Regina Dupuy 95, formerly of North White Plains, N.Y. died peacefully in her sleep one week short of her 96th birthday on November 11,2017 in California. She leaves behind her daughter Elizabeth, son Marc, (deceased) daughter Danouta, grandsons Lincoln and Preston Mendell and Marc Anthony Dupuy, sons-in-law Gary Mendell and Paco Serus, daughter-in-law Catherine Ciccone Dupuy, nieces Lori and Linda (deceased) Lazarz and nephews Robert and John Lazarz.Born November 24, 1921 in Glembokie, Poland, Regina was the eldest child of Jan and Elizabeth Lazarz. She had two brothers (deceased): Ludomir and Waldemar. Her father was a forester and her mother a seamstress. Regina was educated by the Sisters of Nazareth, but her schooling was stopped short when Russia invaded the eastern part of Poland during WWII. Along with hundreds of thousands of Poles, she and her family were loaded into boxcars and sent to a labor camp in Siberia. In March 1955 Regina met the love of her life, Pierre Dupuy in Queens, NY, also a postwar émigré himself from France. Regina and Pierre started a family with Elizabeth arriving in 1957 and Marc in 1959. The extended family moved to the suburbs in 1961 settling in North White Plains, NY. Regina was a wonderful mother who put her family above all else. Her cooking and baking skills were outstanding. She loved entertaining and telling stories. In the last two years of her life, Regina lived in California, where she had moved to be near her daughter. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, on Tuesday, 7-9 PM. and Wednesday, 11- 12 noon. Graveside Services, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. would be appreciated.
