Raymond Nelson Davis, 78, a longtime White Plains resident, passed away surrounded by family on March 13, 2012. He was born in Asheville, NC, on March 20, 1933, to George E. Davis and Elise Lanning Davis Reeh. On April 20, 1957, he married Ruth L. Perin of White Plains. Ray was a graduate of White Plains High School. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, attended Columbia University, studying advertising, film and animation, and received a Masters Degree of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Syracuse University School of Visual and Performing Arts. From 1956-1962 Ray served in the US Navy, graduating from the US Naval Officers' Candidate School, Pensacola, FL, and The Naval Intelligence & Counter Intelligence School, Washington, DC. Among his various tours of duty, he was stationed in Port Lyautey, Morocco, for two years and was honorably discharged having attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Upon returning to civilian life, Ray worked in the NYC advertising world before going into business for himself in advertising and graphic design. Ray lived a rich life. He was loved by many and was a wonderful friend, father, grandfather and husband. He loved spending time with his family who were of the utmost importance to him. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to live full and rewarding lives. He will be missed by his loving wife, Ruth, of 54 years, four children, Robert (Gail), Jennifer Ahrenberg (Don), William (Carolyn) and Pamela Iodice (Ed) as well as eight wonderful grandchildren, Donnie, Chris, Laura, Billy, Carly, Eddie, Bethany and Jason. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 31, 2012, at 1 o'clock pm at the White Plains Presbyterian Church, 39 North Broadway. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the White Plains Hospital Center- Cardiac Care Unit or the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, Valhalla, NY.
