Phyllis Subklewe

Phyllis Girondo Subklewe, daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother passed away from this earth peacefully on June 17, 2022 at White Plains Hospital surrounded by her daughters and grandsons. Phyllis was born in White Plains, New York on July 10, 1943, to Nicolas Girondo and Jean Perrucci Girondo. She attended Brockport university in Brockport,  New York. She graduated with a BS in Elementary Education. Phyllis worked in the lower East Side of Manhattan as an elementary school teacher. Later, she met and married Richard Subklewe and they moved to Westchester and Phyllis continued teaching in the Harrison school system. Phyllis and Richard settled in West Harrison where they raised their two daughters Toni Subklewe of Manhattan, New York and Jean Subklewe-Viviano of Valhalla,  New York. Mr. Subklewe died in January, 2017. They were the loves of each other's lives and they were well-known and well- liked throughout their small hometown of Silver Lake. Besides her daughters, Phyllis is survived by her beloved grandsons, Paul, Kristoffer, and Jason. Her grandsons were her heart and they all adored her, calling her affectionately Amma.. Phyllis had a passion for baseball and was a lifelong Yankee fan. She was also an avid lover of music, nature, cooking, the beach,  and all of life's beauty. She leaves behind  a sister Mary Pinciaro and  brother-in-law Nicky Pinciaro,  and a nephew Anthony Pinciaro, wife Maria,  grand niece, Elena and grand nephew Vincent.In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html
