Philomena (Compitello) Belmont

Philomena (Minnie) Belmont, on March 20, 2018 surrounded by her family passed away peacefully, at her home in West Harrison, N.Y. Philomena was born to the late Rocco and Rose Compitello on February 10, 1917 in White Plains, N.Y. She married Michael Belmont on November 22, 1942 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains. As an active member of the West Harrison Community she was involved with the Senior Citizens, St. Anthony’s Fiesta Committee. Philomena and her husband Michael were proprietors of Lake Farms Market where she welcomed everyone with a big smile and helped many immigrants acclimate successfully into the community. Her greatest joy was her treasured family and having them come to her home for the holidays as well as Thursday night dinners which always included her famous meatballs, eggplant and chicken parmigano. When asked for her recipes, her answer would always be, “made with Love”. Philomena was predeceased by her loving husband Michael of 49 years in 1991, her brothers William, Patsy, Anthony, Rocco, Michael, Joseph and sisters Concetta, Margaret and Mary and her devoted son in law Thomas Morzello in 2016. Philomena is survived by her three children Christina Morzello, Michael Belmont, Ronald (Carol) Belmont. Her eight loving and cherished grandchildrenThomas (Linda) Morzello, Stephen (Theresa) Morzello, Anthony (Cathleen) Morzello, Christopher (Maria) Morzello, Ryan (Paula) Belmont, Michael Jack (Amy) Belmont, Matthew (Meghan) Belmont and Michelle (Alex) Meyers. Along with her twelve great grandchildren: Thomas C., Christian,  Nicolette, Ashleigh, Sean, Sophia, Jack Morzello and McKenzie, Kaitlin, Ryan, Graham Belmont and Julia Belle Meyers. Philomena (Minnie) is also survived by her best friend Louise. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, 3-9 PM. Funeral Mass, St. Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison, N.Y. on Saturday, 10 AM. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church,  85 Harrison Street West Harrison, N.Y. 10604 would be appreciated.
