Peter J. Coccaro 96, a resident of the Pope John Paul II Nursing Home, In Danbury, Conn. and a former longtime resident of Thornwood, N.Y. Died on July 20, 2008. He was born on Oct.1, 1911 to the late Barbato and Josephine (nee Porfido) Coccaro in NYC. Pete was a Letter Carrier and Worked for the US Postal Service for many years, first in NYC and latter in Pleasantville, N.Y. Pete was an active parishioner at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, where he served as usher and Past President of the Holy Name Society. He also was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Dominic Council, Thornwood, N.Y. Peter was predeceased by his first wife Adeline (nee Gelardi) Coccaro in 1972 and his second wife Rhoda. 1 brother Albert Coccaro and 1 sister Elizabeth Viani. He is survived by his 2 sons Robert Coccaro and his wife Regina of New Fairfield, Conn. and Peter Coccaro and his wife Cheryl of Yarmouth Port, Mass. 1 brother Richard Coccaro of Florida and 2 sisters Gloria Sanchez of Tarrytown, N.Y. and Ann Ligotti of Florida. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Thursday 10AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
