Patrick L. Herman of Hawthorne, N.Y. passed Peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on thursday March 17, 2005. He was 86. The son of the late Mary Catherine and Thomas Herity, he was born in Dublin, Ireland on April1, 1918. He moved to Elmsford, N.Y. as a young man. A veteran, Mr. Herman served in the United States Army during World War 11. He married his loving and devoted wife, Rita Sheridan, on June 21, 1947. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year. He retired from Rosedale Nursery after over 40 years of dedicated service where he served as a landscaper and later as the general foreman. He was kno~ for his excelilient horticultural skills and his beautiful yard. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, N.Y. Survivors include his wife Rita Sheridan Herman of Hawthorne, N.Y. his four children, Patrick Herman and his wife Peggy of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. Rita Majdanski and her husBand Stanley of Hawthorne, N.Y. Peggy Schmidt and her husband David of Putnam Valley, N.Y. and Jim Herman and his wife Laura of New Windsor, N.Y. his brother William Herman of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. his sister Ann Sheridan of St. Petersburg, Fla. and ten grandchildren, Micheal and his wife Carissa, Catherine, J~ia, Erik, Jessica, Owen, Kayla, Rachel, Philip and Peter and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas, John and Michael. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Monday 10 AM. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to Phelps Hospice would be appriciated.
