Patricia Ann (O’Connor) Brown, age 77 entered into eternal life peacefully in her sleep on January 14, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nursing Center in Virginia Beach. Born in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY on July 19, 1940. She was the loving daughter of the late James and Catherine O’Connor of Manhasset, NY. A graduate of St. Mary’s HS in Manhasset, St. Vincent’s (NYC) School of Nursing and earned a BS from The Catholic University, School of Nursing in DC. She worked at St. Francis Hospital, NY; North Shore Hospital, Manhasset, NY; at St. Mary’s Home in West Hartford, CT. Public Nursing in Washington, DC, Dayton, Ohio, and Ithaca, NY. She also worked as campus nurse at Temple University, Ambler PA. Pat also was an RN for close to 20 years at SUNY Hospital at Stony Brook, NY. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her cherished and loving children, Teresa (Terry) Ritzel and husband, Hobie, of Virginia Beach and their daughters, Kelly, Jennifer, Katie and Allie; Joseph Brown and wife, Lauretta, of Briarcliff Manor, NY and their children, Griffin and Fiona; Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Brown (US Army) of Lunenburg, MA and his sons, Christopher and Andrew; Brendan Brown and his wife, Allison, of Setauket, NY; Meghan Spearman and her husband, Edward, of Virginia Beach and their sons, Sean and Grant; and the father of her children, Joseph B. Brown of Trumbull, CT. Other survivors include her sisters, Susan Boyd of Plano, TX, Catherine O’Connor of NYC, and brother, James O’Connor, and his wife, Doris of Madison, CT and Monica Callahan, sister-in-law, of Trumbull, CT. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by infants, Joseph Patrick and Maureen Kathleen and brother-in-laws Richard Boyd of Dallas, TX and Lawrence Callahan of Trumbull, CT. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her memory with a wake at Hawthorne Funeral Home on January 19 from 6:00-8:00PM which is located at 21 West Stevens Avenue in Hawthorne, NY 10532. A funeral mass will take place Saturday at 9:30 at The Church of St. John and St. Mary in Chappaqua, NY followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for the amazing care as well as their professionalism, compassion and love shown to Pat in her time of need. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
