Paolo (Paul) Enea of White Plains, New York, died peacefully surrounded by his adoring family on January 8, 2025, just shy of his 93rd birthday.
Paolo is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maria Teresa; sons, Anthony (Joanne), Paul (Timothy), Frank (Lisa); Grandchildren, Lauren (Brian), Michael (Elizabeth), Liam and Julian and Great Grandchildren, Lily and James. He is survived by his brother, Giovanni and predeceased by siblings, Antonino, Francesco, Girolamo, Francesca, Angela and Maria. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angela and Erasmo, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather, he was born in Capaci, Palermo, Sicily in 1932 to Antonino and Rosa (Siino) Enea. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Maria Teresa Enea (Drago) and soon thereafter immigrated to the United States where he and his wife settled in White Plains, New York and raised their three sons.
Paolo was a long-time member of The Laborers International Union, Local 235 where he was both a laborer and Shop Steward. He was proud of the mark he left on the city of White Plains, his home for roughly 66 years, and worked on many well-known buildings in our city, such as the County Courthouse, White Plains Mall and Galleria Mall.
While he worked tremendously hard to provide for his family, his true passion was gardening. As soon as the ground thawed, you could find him in his garden tending to his tomatoes, figs, squash and eggplant, to name a few.
Paolo, a clarinet player himself, loved Italian music and singers, and in the Seventies, he shared his love of Italian music with his sons- always bringing music and arts into the home. This love of music binds his sons together and will forever link them to their father.
He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who could easily twist his arm for a trip to the toy or candy store! During their outings he would share with them his love for soccer (Forza Juve!) and the New York Rangers, and when home with them, he taught them how to make Pizza, Panelle (Paolo's favorite) or a simple toast with oil and grated pecorino romano.
Most importantly, Paolo was devoted to his wife. They shared a love that bloomed during their teenage years and they wed in 1957. Since then, they have been inseparable- dedicating their life together to their children, grandchildren and extended family and always teaching them the importance of family gathering around the dinner table.
A life well-lived and a man tremendously loved and adored by all who have ever met him, Paolo will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to acknowledge the loving and compassionate care he received at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York during the last days of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Calvary Hospital Fund, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, New York 10461 are appreciated.
Grazie per tutto, Papa. Ti ameremo per sempre.
