Osaze Guobadia

March 8, 1984 — December 5, 2022

White Plains

Loving son, brother, uncle and friend to everyone who has crossed his path, Osaze Latif Guobadia passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022. While only 38 years young, his impact on this world will last far beyond his time on this earth. Osaze personified unwavering strength, determination and the ability to find humor even in the most difficult situations.

Born on March 8, 1984 in Enugu, Nigeria, Osaze emigrated to New York in the early 90s with his father Isiaka Guobadia, mother Joy Guobadia, older brother Ogieva Guobadia and younger sister Ivie Serioux nee Guobadia. As a child he had many interests including soccer and video games. As a young adult he studied psychology and chemical dependency as he was invested in helping others who faced health challenges.

Osaze faced severe health challenges due to sickle cell anemia, including strokes and kidney failure/transplant. Despite the many complications he faced he refused to be defined by his health. Instead, he embraced an attitude of gratitude and humor which rubbed off on everyone he met.

Osaze's ability to find the good in any situation inspired all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of friends from all walks of life. Those that knew him well remember his deep commitment to God, his jokes, laugh and the effortless way he lit up a room with his presence.

He is deeply loved and will be missed by his friends, his family, his siblings spouses' Jessica Guobadia, Justin Serioux and his nieces Angela, Vanessa, Calista and Naomi.

The service for Osaze Guobadia will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 10 AM at Scared Heart Catholic Church located in Hartsdale, New York. If you would like to further celebrate Osaze's life, in lieu of flowers the Guobadia family asks that donations be made to Fallen Angels - Sickle Cell Foundation in Osaze's honor.
