Norma Rosalind Finkelstein died on October 8th in Putnam Hospital at age 87. She was born on February 23rd, 1928, to Dorothea and George Geissensetter in Bronx, NY. She graduated from Walton High School and American Institute of Banking. Norma married Seymour Finkelstein in 1953 and made their home in Yonkers, where she raised her family. She was a very involved wife and mother in her community. Norma served as den mother for her two sons' Cub Scouts. She was a trophy-winning bowler for her team, the Rainbowettes, and president of the league. Among her career jobs, Norma worked for Steinhall Imports, NY Savings Bank, Franklin Savings Bank, and John Hancock Life Insurance, where she was an executive secretary until her retirement in 1993. She later spent many years living in Yorktown. After her husband's death in 1986, Norma began volunteering in Lawrence Hospital Emergency Room, which spanned 18 years. She additionally volunteered at Hancock Hall in Danbury, Connecticut for six years. Norma derived much happiness in rearing her only grandchild, Emma Hope. She was a hands-on grandmother, loving and attentive, instilling beautiful qualities and life lessons to her granddaughter. She is survived by two sons: Steven (Annette) of Danbury, Connecticut, and Mark (Shelly) of Greenacres, Florida; one grandchild, Emma Hope (Steven and Annette). A brother, Robert Geissensetter, predeceased her in 2014. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9PM. Interment, Sharon Gardens Cemetery, Valhallla, NY, Thursday 11:30AM.
