Norma Cassinelli

Norma Burigo Cassinelli, A Spirited and Loving Woman Norma “Norms” Cassinelli, 90, died peacefully at Filosa Nursing Facility in Danbury, CT on Monday, May 22, 2017.  She was born in her home in the Bronx, New York on April 12, 1927 to Maria (DeBona) and Giovanni Burigo.  She married Umberto Cassinelli on May 7, 1955. Norma Cassinelli is survived by her loving children, daughter Patrice Buonassisi, son Daniel Cassinelli, son-in-law Michael Buonassisi, five grandchildren Michael Buonassisi, Marissa Cassinelli, Kristen Buonassisi, Justin Cassinelli and Matthew Cassinelli, and her sister Ida Spinoso.  She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Umberto Cassinelli, sisters Olga (Anthony) Sbuttoni, Louise Burigo, Oneila Burigo and Yolanda (Joseph) Timeo, brothers Alfred (Lucy) Burigo and Andrew (Ida) Burigo, brother-in-law Arthur Spinoso and nephew Joseph Sbuttoni. Norma Cassinelli was a lively, energetic, and fun loving woman whose grandchildren and family were her greatest joys.  Her enthusiasm, sense of humor and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her. Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday May 31st from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.  The funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday June 1st at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 2 Broadway, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810. In our memories and in our hearts she will be with us always.
