Nicholas B. Scova

Nicholas Biddle Scova 88,  passed away on June 12, 2021.  Nick was born on July 29, 1932 in Smithtown, LI and was a lifelong resident of Hawthorne.  His parents are the late Joseph N Scova and  Beatrice Biddle Scova (nee Johnson).   His grandmother was a noted author and lecturer, Dorothy Biddle.  He  graduated from Pleasantville High School and obtained a Bachelors Degree from Iona College. Nick served in the Army from 1954-1956 as a Chaplin’s Assistant. He worked at Technicon in Ardsley and then took over Scova Realty which started in 1929 by his father, Joe Scova. Nick was involved in numerous organizations including the Cub Scouts, Sherman Park Little League and the Knights of Columbus.   He was President of the Mt. Pleasant Republican Club, and several campaigns including Martinelli, Congressman Peyser and  County Legislator Brady. Through his Grandfather, he was related to John Quincy Adams and the first President of the First Bank of The United States, Nicholas Biddle.  Nick was appointed the Mt Pleasant Town Board as a Councilman in 1972 and served for 13 years. Nick loved his family, Iona Basketball and politics.  Nick is survived by his children James Scova of Hawthorne, Beatrice Biddle Scova (Tom Grega), Lisa Scova (deceased) Nicole  Scova Geoghegan (Mel) of Pleasantville and Michael Scova (Margareth) of Croton on Hudson.   He is also survived by his grandchildren Lindsay DeVito (Michael), Tyler Scova, Allison Scova, and Mickey Scova, as well as his great-grandchildren Elliot Patrick and Owen Brennan DeVito. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Wednesday, 10 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.  In lieu of flowers please make any donations to Rosary Hill Home 600 Linda Ave. Hawthorne, N.Y. 10532, would be appreciated.
