Nancy Roberta Nightingale Cartledge (July 1, 1938 - October 15, 2017) of Valhalla NY passed into eternal rest on Sunday at home in Lordship CT with family members. Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter. Nancy is predeceased by her husband of 52 years Thomas E. Cartledge, and her parents Robert H Nightingale and Muriel Bradley Nightingale. She is survived by her sister Karen Rae Nightingale, her three children Thomas Cartledge, Robert Cartledge and Nancy J. Taft, and her four grand-children Justin Cartledge, Isabel Cartledge, William Cartledge and Zackary Taft. Nancy was an active member of the Valhalla community especially the Valhalla United Methodist Church and the Valhalla School district. When she was first married, Nancy utilized her degree as a registered dietitian at General Foods. After her sons were born, she chose to work as a school bus driver at Stotz Garage, a job she held for over 40 years. Nancy was an avid supporter of the sports teams of the high school and many students over the years have happy memories of her driving them to school or to a sporting event. Nancy also spent her summers on the beach in Lordship CT with her family and a close community of friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial visitation on Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00pm at the Hawthorne in Hawthorne NY and a graveside service at 1:30 pm at the Kensico Cemetery. Immediately following there will be a reception at the Valhalla United Methodist Church.
