NADINE SACHS ZIMET died peacefully on February 17, two weeks before her 94th birthday. She moved to Scarsdale after marrying Ralph Zimet, a founder of the Urology Department at White Plains Hospital, in 1946. Since the 1960's, she divided her time between Scarsdale and Longboat Key, Florida.
Nadine graduated from Radcliffe College in 1936, majoring in the History of Art. During World War II, she worked for the Civilian Defense Volunteer Office and also volunteered for the American Red Cross in France and Germany. After the war, she devoted herself to her family and to philanthropic activities. She served as President of Radcliffe in Westchester and was a longtime volunteer for Senior Personnel Employment Council of White Plains.
An avid athlete, Nadine jogged before it became fashionable and played tennis until age 85. In the summers, she swam daily at the Scarsdale Pool. Other lifelong passions included gardening, nature, and travel. An accomplished craftsperson, Nadine loved to find ways to turn her extensive collection of beach shells into beautiful decorative objects. She remained always remarkable for her active curiosity, constant enthusiasm, and engagement with life.
Nadine leaves three daughters, Alice S. Zimet, Nadine B. Zimet, and Vicki Zimet Daly; and a granddaughter, Julia Nadine Daly, all of New York City.
