Mildred Marie Howse was born on March 28, 1928, to Harold Edward Fisher and Elizabeth Lola Baker Fisher in Redding, Connecticut.
Mildred attended all of the primary schools in Greenwich, CT. During her high school years, she attended boarding school at Mary Potter Academy, in Oxford North Carolina. After graduation, she attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. Mildred became a Registered Nurse, and eventually became the Director of Pediatrics at St. Agnes Hospital.
Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Lewis Howse and a daughter, Lola Elizabeth Lovell (Winnie). Mildred is survived by two daughters, Barbara Howse-Diemer of Columbia, South Carolina and Lisa Howse-Lewis of Mount Vernon, New York, and by two granddaughters, Sydney and Landyn Lewis.
Mildred will be remembered by family and friends as a woman who enjoyed and did everything from gardening, bowling, crafting, traveling, golfing, entertaining and mentoring those in need. She also loved nature and beauty and walked for the majority of her adult life every day. One of her favorite walking spots was the Kensico Dam. She truly believed and lived in her truth that one should surround themselves with happy and positive people.
She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of White Plains Presbyterian Church for over 25 years.
Some of her favorite sayings were “Smile”, “Get it together”, “keep it moving”, “stay together as family”, “love and care for others” and God is good…All the time!
