Mary Veronica (Shine) Palermo

Mary Shine Palermo who was in her 100th year passed away peacefully on February 4th at Rosary Hill with Catherine and Patrice by her side. Mary was born on March 20th, 1919 to the parents of Patrick and Margaret Shine of Ireland. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Laurence Palermo in 1980 and her sister Catherine in 1987.  She worked for the Ruppert Knickerbocker Brewery as a switchboard operator and for the A&P as a bookkeeper. Mary was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in the Bronx for over 60 years. Mary enjoyed her many years as a volunteer at the Jewish Home and Hospital in the Bronx.  She was a very friendly, warm and caring lady who enjoyed people and having a good time.  We all considered her our Aunt as she was always a part of our lives. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday Feb. 23, 2019 from 8:30-9:30 AM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne,NY on Saturday Feb. 23 at 10 AM. Mary will be laid to rest February 23rd with her beloved husband and sister at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.  The Family extends thanks to the Sister’s at Rosary Hill for the wonderful care and love that was shown to Mary.
