Mary Hudock Junker, a long-time White Plains resident, died Monday, June 15th at the Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York.
Born on May 19, 1924 in Perryopolis, PA, she was the daughter of the late John C. Hudock and Emilia Herich Hudock. She was married to Harold Junker Jr. for 55 years, who predeceased her.

Mary moved to White Plains at age 17 to attend the White Plains Hospital School of Nursing. Upon her graduation, she served as a nurse in the Naval Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia caring for the war wounded. She returned to White Plains Hospital in 1948 as an instructor at the nursing school. After marrying Harold Junker Jr. in 1951, she took time off to raise her family, but returned to school and received her Masters Degree from the Teachers College at Columbia University in 1968. She was a school nurse for several years, taught nursing for the Westchester BOCES Program, and retired in 1987 as Director of Nursing from Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, NY. She took great pride in her profession and was highly respected by those she worked with. She was instrumental in forming the North White Plains Library. She was known for her love of knitting, gardening, reading, visits to Cape Cod, tag sales, and always having time for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey D. Junker and his wife, Carol, of Greenwich, CT; John R. Junker, at home; and James E. Junker and his wife, Gerry, of Lake Carmel, NY; one daughter, Heidi Junker Coleman and her husband, Martin Michael Coleman, of Monroe, NY; three grandchildren, Allyson, Emily, and David; three sisters, Eileen Ritter of Carrollton, TX; Margaret Thomas of Clemson, SC; and Kay Courney of White Plains, NY; her brother, John M. Hudock of Camden, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Hudock, and one sister, Mildred S. Hudock.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY. Internment will be private at Kensico Cemetery.
