Mary Lou DeFate (nee Kaiser) died Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She was born January 10, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, New York, daughter of the late Ben and Lillian (Quirk) Kaiser. Mary Lou graduated from Our Lady of Victory Grammar School and A.B. Davis High School. While a resident of Mt. Vernon, she was very active in school and church affairs chairing fundraisers for both. She also worked with the Girl Scouts for many years. She was a member of the Republican Party serving as a delegate and also in the Board of Elections for a long time. She was a resident of Eastchester, New York for 39 years and worked in the accounting department of Edward Ehrbar, Inc. for 23 years. After retirement she moved to Gahanna, Ohio. Mary Lou loved to travel and was an avid reader. She also was a sports enthusiast. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Gaulin of Blauvelt, New York, Beth Pagano of Upper Grandview, New York, and Jacquelyn Romagnano of Scarsdale, New York. Also a son, John DeFate of Blauvelt, New York. Three granddaughters, Claire and Tara Gaulin and Nicki Romagnano; three grandsons, Philip Gaulin, Ben Pagano, and Joseph Romagnano; and great grandson, Connor Gaulin. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Paul Kaiser of Florida, New York. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Friday 12 noon. Interment to follow.
