Mary A Daley

Mary A. Daley, a gracious lady and beautiful spirit, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 14th, 2014. Mary lived each day with a zest for life, and had the ability to raise the spirits of everyone she came in contact with. She loved to travel (which she did extensively) and she loved animals, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Margaret Brady & James J. Daley on July 3rd, 1917. Mary was the oldest of three siblings. Her younger sister Margaret Alice Daley Caserta passed away 11 years ago, and her younger brother James Daley lives in Daytona, FL with his wife Barbara. Mary lived with and provided loving care for her father, James J. Daley, in White Plains, NY until his death in 1973. Mary was the beloved Aunt of Jim, Mary Alice, Kathy & Paul Daley (deceased), and Michael, Patrick, Margaret Caserta Lau, Tony & Robert Caserta. She is also survived by 20 great nieces & nephews, and three great-great nieces and two great-great nephews. Mary worked at AT&T for over 40 years, and upon retirement volunteered at the Burke Rehabilitation Center. She also taught CCD at St. John's Parish in White Plains. Mary's last several years were spent at St. Patrick's Home in the Bronx, where she enjoyed many activities including daily Mass, visits from Cardinal Timothy Dolan, bingo, and visits to the second floor Pub, where Irish music can be heard all the time. She also spent a great deal of time with Minnie and Joy, the two resident cats of St. Pat's. Aunt Mary was dearly loved and she will be missed. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 21st at 9:00 am followed by the funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Home (66 Van Cortlandt Park S, Bronx, NY.)
