Mary A. Cerbone

Mary A. Cerbone 87, a long time resident of Pelham Manor and New Rochelle, passed away at her new home in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. on Nov.6, 2010. She was born on August 23, 1923 to the late Providencia and Gaetano Accardi in Brooklyn, N.Y. When few women gained higher education, Mary earned a bachelors degree from St. Josephs College for Women and a DDS from NYU School of Dentistry. Mary married Dr. Eugene J. Cerbone in 1948 and with him practiced dentistry in the Bronx. They raised their family in Yonkers and Pelham Manor. Mary is survived by her devoted husband Dr. Eugene J. Cerbone of Mt. Kisco, N.Y. and her loving children; Joseph (Rena) Cerbone of Upper Montclair, N.J., Eleanor (John) Scarcella of Somers, N.Y., Regina (Salvatore) Grasso of Chappaqua, N.Y., Annette Cerbone (Suzanne LeVan) of N.Y., N.Y. and Lisa (James) DeFillipo of Sewell, N.J. one brother Joseph Accardi of Ft. Worth, Fla. and one sister Marion Falletti of Ocala, Fla. Also survived by her ten cherished grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Predeceased by one sister and two brothers. Marys devotion to her family will be remembered by her husband, her children and spouses and numerous nieces and nephews and by her crowning glory, her ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Monday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Tuesday 10 AM. Entombment to follow. Mary requested that in lieu of flowers those who wish to should remember her in a donation to the Jefferson Foundation, Jefferson Pancreatic Cancer Surgical Research Fund, 925 Chestnut St. Suite 110, Philadelphia, PA. 19107 would be appreciated.
