MARTIN S. GITOW
Marty, aged 88, died April 18th, peacefully and with family by his side. Marty was deeply curious, had a sharp wit, brilliant mind, strong dynamic personality and utter devotion to family and close friends. Born in the Bronx in 1927, he worked as a publishing and marketing executive in NYC beginning his career at Esquire magazine in the 1950s. He raised a family in Westchester and after decades in the industry, retired from his job as a top executive at Family Media, moving to Sarasota, Florida. He had a deep love of jazz, the Giants, tennis, Stephen Sondheim, Winston Churchill, musicals, spy novels, coffee, telling stories, and people who made him laugh and think. Marty served in the direct aftermath of World War II, helping re-map Korea. He graduated with a degree in Economics from NYU. Marty leaves behind his wife of 57 years Lea, adored children David, Adam and Andi, daughters-in-law Jaime and Julie, and three treasured granddaughters, Jessie, Emily and Camille. We will miss you, always.
