Marjorie Ruderfer, born Marjorie Ruth Reuben on January 28, 1923 in New York, NY, died peacefully on November 7, 2009 at Hospice in Branford, CT.
Marge attended Julia Richman elementary school in Manhattan and graduated Cornell University in 1943. Her varied career path led from work in inventory control at Bamberger's Department Store, to the United Service for New Americans relocating WWII refugees, to the Registrar's Office in the White Plains Board of Education. In addition to her paid work, Marge tutored elementary school students in White Plains in reading for many years. She was also active for decades with various school PTOs and in the Westchester League of Women Voters.
Marge loved tennis, paddle, reading, her book club of 45 years, telling stories; gardening (and weeding) indoors and out, politics and the fight for social justice, fine cuisine and spirits, a good joke and New York City.
She leaves two children Laurie Ruderfer and Howard Ruderfer, Doctor of Chiropractics, son-in-law Matthew Ellman, MD, her beloved grandchildren, Isaac and Hannah, sister-in-
laws Rita Reuben, Leah and Gloria Ruderfer, brother-in-law Walter Ruderfer, nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends from childhood in New York City, college days, Fresh Meadows, and Westchester. She is predeceased by her brother Richard Reuben, MD and ex-husband, Herbert Ruderfer.
