Marilyn K. Rathgeb

Marilyn K. Rathgeb, 89, of Thornwood, N.Y.  died peacefully on March 27, 2020 after a short time in hospice at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY.  She was born November 2, 1930 in New York City, NY.  Her loving parents who predeceased her were John and Anna (nee Buckley) Mulrein.  Marilyn was predeceased by her devoted husband, Conrad Rathgeb in 1977.  She is survived by her brother, William Mulrein; her six children Edward (Rosalia) Rathgeb of Houston, TX, Nancy (Joseph) Casoria of Hartsdale, NY, Karen (Kenneth) Hoeg of Piscataway, NJ, Thomas (Keryn) Rathgeb of Skaneateles, NY, Linda (William) Kelly of Carmel, NY, and Janice (Steven LaChapelle) Rathgeb of Thornwood, NY.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Nicholas Rathgeb, Isabella Rathgeb, Colleen Hoeg, Darrell Hoeg, Brendan Hoeg, Joshua Rathgeb, Abigail Rathgeb, Lucas Rathgeb, Katie Kelly, John Edward Kelly, William Kelly, Logan Lee and Matthew LaChapelle.  Marilyn graduated from New Rochelle High School.  She married Conrad Rathgeb on April 15, 1956 in New Rochelle, NY and raised their six children there before moving to Thornwood, NY.  Upon Conrad’s death, Marilyn worked at the Mount Pleasant Westchester Cemetery Corporation as secretary, later moving on to work at Westlake High School in Thornwood, NY.  Marilyn also was employed at the New York Power Authority where she worked until her retirement.  She enjoyed many other activities including bowling, playing cards with her friends and volunteering in many of her children’s pursuits. She was a member of the Columbiettes in Thornwood, NY.  She had a strong conviction to her roots in the Catholic Church and carried her faith through all aspects of her life.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marilyn’s name and sent to Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY: CalvaryCare, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.  Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. The family will be making arrangements for a memorial service in the coming future.
