Marie Ann McNamee Carlucci of Valrico, Fl. passed into eternal rest on June 11, 2023 at AccentCare Hospice in Largo, Fl.
The daughter of Clarence and Anna (Mills) McNamee, she grew up in Bronx, N.Y. and graduated from Preston High School.
After graduating from The Mt. Vernon Hospital School of Nursing she served as a Registered Nurse and dedicated her career to the service of others. Marie earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Mercy College and a Master of Public Health Degree from New York Medical College.
Marie's career was spent in nursing, with her having served as a Director of Nursing in a number of facilities, with certifications in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, and Intensive Care Nursing. Marie was a licensed Healthcare Risk Manager, a Certified Nurse Administrator, Certified Legal Consultant, Certified Assisted Living Facility Administrator, an also held certifications in Congregate Care, Alzheimers Level I and Level II, Cardiology, PRI, MDS, and CPR.
Marie served as a voluntary Guardian ad Litem for those with special needs, was a member of Surrogate Decision Making Panels, and a Nursing Home Trustee. She was a member of the Florida Society of Healthcare Risk Management, a member of the American Academy of Medical Legal Consultants, and of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce.
Marie also served as a religious education teacher for many years and was the author of a number of nursing/medical articles. Marie was a lifelong gardener, taking pride in learning the best methods of Florida gardening. She enjoyed cooking for her family, lovingly preparing holiday feasts every year, volunteering in service to others and simply spending time with her husband Paul. Marie never touted her accomplishments, but simply enjoyed using her skills to help others.
Marie loved to travel, experiencing the wonder and beauty of many National and State Parks with her husband Paul. They enjoyed relaxing with a good movie and could often be found enjoying the beaches of Florida.
Marie and Paul were inseparable, and married for 49 years. They lived in Yonkers, N.Y., the Town of New Castle, N.Y., and in Valrico, Fl. for 24 years.
Marie is survived by her husband of 49 years, her daughters Patricia (Gabe) and Christine (Rick), grandson Noah, mother Anna, brother Tony (Joanne) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father and sister Arleen.
Viewing shall be held at the Hawthorne Funeral Home (Ballard-Durand) at 8:30-10:30am Saturday June 17th, to be followed by Mass at the St. Francis Chapel of Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
It is requested that donations to UNICEF be made in Marie's memory in lieu of flowers.
