Maria "Gina" Zambrano

Maria (Gina) Zambrano, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, died on June 28th, 2014. She was born on April 16, 1936 in Siano-Salerno, Italy and came to the United States in 1964. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank Zambrano, and children Jennifer DiChiara (Tito), Rocco Zambrano (Silvana), Nick Zambrano (Christine), Annamaria Valentin (Raymond); and grandchildren Robert, Rebecca, Briana, Frank, Victoria, Elizabeth, Madelyn and Abigail. Maria was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford. She lived for her family and friends, always available to help in anyway needed, never saying no, whether an ear to listen, a meal to make, clothing to sew, or cookies to bake, she loved and gave to all, family, friends and strangers. She spent any remaining free time in her garden, saving and raising her plants and flowers as if they were children of her own. Calling hours will be held at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 72 E. Main Street, Elmsford on Monday June 30th, from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian burial to be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Tuesday July 1st at 10 am. Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
