Maria Concetta Stabile

Maria “Connie” Stabile, age 91 died at Noble Horizons Nursing Home in Salisbury, CT on April 10, 2017. Born April 1925 in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and attended New York University. On June 12, 1948 she married Victor C. Stabile. After raising six children Connie re-entered the workforce with QSP, a magazine fundraising company for elementary schools where she ran fundraising campaigns at many area schools. Having been a parishioner, parent and volunteer at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and School in Elmsford, NY since 1956, in 1987 at the age of 62 she took a position as the librarian and reading teacher, where she spearheaded and completed the initiative to convert the card catalog to an all digital barcode system. She eventually retired in 2008 at the age of 83. Throughout her years of volunteer service to the OLMC parish she served as Mothers’ Guild President, Eucharistic Minister, Liturgical Minister, CCD teacher, and many other positions. Connie is survived by her six children: Jane, Joseph (Elaine), Vickie (Ray), Paul (Cheryl), Gloria (Joe), and Michael (Chrissy). Her thirteen grandchildren: Francesca, Mary, Matthew, Colleen, Paul Jr., Katherine, Ann, Gloria, Stephanie, Joey, Victor, Blake, and Paul. Her four great grandchildren: Angela, Luke, Juliana, and John William. She is predeceased by her husband Victor; her siblings John, Don and Teresa; and her son-in-law John. Connie was a devout Roman Catholic who selflessly served her parish, community and family with distinction and grace. Viewings will be held at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home 72 E Main St, Elmsford, NY on Sunday, April 16, from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM and on Monday, April 17 from 9:30 -10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, April 17 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford, NY, burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Connie devoted much of her life to serving Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School therefore the family feels that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
