Margery Doernberg Bruno, a longtime resident of Scarsdale, died on July 30, 2011. She was 93.

Mrs. Bruno was born on May 8, 1918 in New York City to the late Dudley Doernberg, Sr. and Blanche Heyman Doernberg. She graduated Scarsdale High School in 1936 and Beaver College in 1941. She was known as an avid tennis player and accomplished bowler, downhill and x-country skier, boater, golfer, and lover of the outdoors.

She devoted countless hours as a volunteer to the White Plains Hospital and Westchester Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. She will be remembered warmly by all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted sons David Edwin Bruno and Robert Howard Bruno and his wife Susan; and her sister-in-law Dottie Peisinger. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Howard; her daughter Barbara; her siblings Beatrice Hecht, Dudley Doernberg Jr., and Natalie Hofheimer; her brothers-in-law Joseph Hofheimer, Robert Peisinger, and William S. Bruno; and her sisters-in-law Nanette Doernberg and Miriam Bruno.

A service is scheduled for Tuesday 1pm at the Chapel in the Woods at Temple Kol Ami, 252 Soundview Ave, White Plains. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make charitable donations in her name to the American Cancer Society.
