Margaret "Peggy" Sawyer Mayfield

Margaret “Peggy” Sawyer Mayfield of White Plains, NY passed away on August 31, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born in Manhattan to Hugh Broderick and Margaret E. Broderick (Griffin) on September 16, 1929.

Peggy is survived by sons Stephen Sawyer (Debra) of Mamaroneck, NY and Geoffrey Sawyer (Michelle) of Brewster, NY.  She was also the loving grandmother of Kyle and Cassandra Sawyer.  She was predeceased by son Peter Sawyer, grandson Sean Sawyer and her husband and former husband, Leonard Mayfield and Thomas Sawyer.  Peggy is also survived by her sister Christina Sullivan of New York, NY and her niece and nephew.

Peggy had a zest for life and owned a placement agency in White Plains before working as a professional placement consultant for Aavis Resources in Manhattan.  She took pride in fostering relationships and loved helping people find their dream job before retiring.

Peggy adored her family including her beloved dogs who predeceased her: King, Thor and Butkus. One of her favorite things to do, besides spending time with family was going to the beach.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A memorial will be held for Peggy on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY, followed by a burial at Noon at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
