I was born in New York City on January 6, 1997. I lived in Harlem with my mother, Nicole, father, Robert, two younger brothers, Robby (now 22) and Noah (now 16), and a teacup chihuahua, Tito. At the age of 14, we moved to Scarsdale, N.Y. Our boxer Blaze (now 7) joined our family. Our sweet Tito went to heaven, and we adopted our dachshund mix, Bella Nugget. I also have eight fish. I have always dreamt of becoming a physician. I graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Psychology and completed all the necessary Pre-Medicine courses in 2019. I am proud that I was on the Dean's List twice and was able to remain a full-time student after being diagnosed with Metastatic Cervical Cancer in 2018, despite doctors telling me I had three months to live and to drop out.
Over the summers during college, I volunteered at Burke Neurological Institute in the Robotics Clinic, researching neuroplasticity. Pre-Pandemic, I volunteered at Mount Sinai West in the Maternity Department and have been an EMS Volunteer since I was a senior in high school. I even ran my own clothing business, Be Decent Clothing, and was a Twitch Affiliated Streamer.
I loved to cook all types of food and desserts, especially more recently infused foods. My love language was acts of service; it brought me immense joy. I played the drums, guitar, piano, and violin and performed in many different countries with my High School Orchestra. In middle school, I played my violin at the United Nations in NYC.
I always wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. I was blessed to be raised by and grow up around many inspiring Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated women. There was nothing more impactful on my sense of self-worth than having a father who cared so intensely for me and a mother who worked together with other strong black women to make their community and themselves better every single day. I strived to be a kind, loving, strong woman that people could look up to. I wanted to help communities with other like-minded individuals and have a serious impact on the world.
To my Mommy and Daddy, continue to cling to each other and love on one another like no one's looking. Robby, I love you and I’ll be looking after you even when I’m not there. Noah, my big baby bro, I love you so much – protect your heart, hold onto your joy, and keep demanding the best. Grandma Westbrook, thank you for your persistent and consistent love. Grandpa Glenn, thank you for your love, the tattoo in my honor, and for always being able to make me laugh. To Aunt Shauna, your encouragement and support meant so much to me. Aunt Shannon and Uncle Dom, our time in Mexico for your wedding was such a beautiful and joyful experience. Aunt Sharon, Aunt Donna, Uncle Wil, and Uncle Alan, I enjoyed and appreciated all of our time together as a family. I was loved deeply. To my cousin, and third brother Chance, I love and am so proud of you. Aunt Patricia, Uncle Emmanuel, and my cousins, Dame, Dominique, Darius, Nigel, Alexxis, Isaiah, DeMye, DaMyah, Cici, Melakai, and John-Dylan, I loved you all with all my heart. Vic, my sister, I loved you so much, and you and your family meant more to me than you know. To my Hitchcock family, thank you for all of your love and prayers. To my Line Sisters and Pi Iota Omega family, I loved you deeply and sincerely. Thank you to my Jack & Jill Mothers. To my friends, I was blessed to have you all in my life, and I thank you for all the joy and laughter we shared. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses who cared for me throughout the last four years. Tito, where are you? Blaze and Bella, who knew all things, thank you for your kisses and cuddles.
