Luis G. Olano

Luis "Lucho" Olano was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left the world on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 73 after courageously battling serious illnesses for a year.

He was born to Rosa Mercedes Abad on March 16, 1951, in Lima, Peru. Like many, he made the decision to leave his home country during young adulthood in search of a better quality of life in the United States. He made his way to New York, which he ended up calling home and started his family and career there.

Luis spent decades cooking up delicious food in Italian restaurants all over Westchester County. Even after he retired, he continued to cook Italian food for his family and friends. His family really loved his chicken scarpariello and clams oreganata.

When he wasn't in the kitchen, he would spend his time listening to music (Leo Dan, Juan Gabriel, Pupo, Roberto Carlos, Peruvian criollo music and Raphael) or watching his favorite soccer teams play: Universitario, Boca Juniors and FC Barcelona.

Luis is survived and missed by his wife Diana Olano Aquije, his daughter Diana Patricia (husband Rusvel Jesus, granddaughter Maya) and his son Jorge Luis (wife Stephanie).

There wasn't anyone like Luis. He loved to make friends and would chat up anyone about anything. He liked to keep busy, driving his PT Cruiser anywhere, even when he had nowhere to go (he made a lot of trips to Sam's club just because). He could be the life of the party and also extremely grumpy. He cursed like a sailor but was also very affectionate. He wasn't perfect but he tried his best in everything he did. Above all else, he was kind, which is something everyone who knew him can attest to.

While we are beyond heartbroken at his passing, we are grateful he is no longer suffering. We will miss him every day of our lives. We love you, Luigi.
