Louise Grassi of White Plains, NY died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2011. She was 92 years old. Born Maria Louisa, on March 17, 1919 in Bronx, NY to Nicola and Antoinetta Grassi. She was one of five children. After moving to White Plains she worked for IRM, a reinsurance firm, from which she retired. She also worked in retail stores such as Depina and Bonwit Teller. During her retirement she began working with nursery school children at the Ridgeway Alliance Church. She said they "kept her young". Louise was a member of the Garden Club in Irvington, NY; and the Choir at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown, NY where she was a communicant for many years and a faithful participant in the Christmas Eve midnight Mass. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY for nearly thirty years. Louise was a very spiritual and musical person. She was a devout Catholic and never missed daily mass on TV. She loved to sing. She would be the first to call to wish you a Happy Birthday accompanied by her famous kazoo. She was an avid reader and a poet. Faith, Family and Friends were most important to her. Louise is survived by her sister, Anna Zaccardo, of Ossining and her nieces Ann Marie(Bill) Smith, Toni (Pat) Natarelli, Carolyn (Damon) Tragni and her nephew Vincent Zaccardo as well as five great nephews and two great nieces and one great, great niece. Interment will be private.
