Louis Mercatante, Jr

Louis Mercatante, Jr. 83, most recently of Ossining, N.Y. and formerly of Valhalla, N.Y. died on Oct. 2, 2012. He was born on June 27, 1929 to the late Louis, Sr. and Rose (nee Gennodie) Mercatante in Valhalla, N.Y. He served proudly in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the atomic energy commission. Louis was a butcher with A&P in Greenwich, Conn and prior to that was a union carpenter. He is survived by his wife of sixty years Marilyn (nee Duncan) Mercatante of Ossining, N.Y. and his loving children, Louis Mercatante III of Ossining, N.Y. Shari Mercatante of Valhalla, N.Y. Holly Johnson of Ossining, N.Y. and Marylou Caldarulo of Trout Creek, N.Y. two sisters, Mary DeRuvo of Charlotte, NC and Antoinette Nannariello of Thornwood, N.Y. Also survived by his four cherished grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his two brothers, Alfonso and Nicholas. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday, 5-9 PM. Where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, 10 AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to either Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, N.Y. or Ossining VAC would be appreciated.
