Louis J. Biele

Louis J. Biele 72, of Bronx, New York and most recently Toledo, Ohio born June 16, 1949 died at his home Saturday, October 30, 2021. He joins his parents Albert P. Biele and Elizabeth Karl Biele as well as his brother Anthony Biele and his sister Charlotte Musselman. He leaves loving and witty memories behind with his remaining siblings Margaret Forman, Albert Biele, Frank Biele, Arthur Biele, and William Biele as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lou served in the United States Navy for a government he never really fully trusted but was never one to shirk his duties or responsibilities. It was there he completed Avionics Class “A” School and earned a National Defense Service Medal. He studied mathematics at Cathedral College in New York City from 1964-1968. With that degree and his Navy schooling, he went into business as an electrical contractor where he excelled given his knack for numbers and attention to fine details.

Lou took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was a creation all his own: plain, long-sleeved button down shirt (regardless of the temperature outside) tucked into his jeans which were often held up with suspenders, paired with his straw hat and sunglasses.

He had a life-long love affair with fine wine, cheap watches, billiards, card games, cats, progresso soup, Star Wars, and the Lord. Not necessarily in that order. He hated paying full price and hypocrites. Not necessarily in that order.

He excelled at adopting any homeless cat within a 50 mile radius, finding bargains, fixing anything in his house with caulk and duct tape, shooting craps, donating to multiple charities, and outsmarting squirrels.

Lou leaves behind many great memories and even greater friends. He was well-liked wherever he went, easy tempered with a quick smile. He loved a deal but hated a swindle. He once bought roses for a steal (probably because they were on their last leg and already wilting) and when they died soon after, he dug them up out of his yard, threw them in the trunk to return them and get his $3 back. So in lieu of flowers that will probably die soon and have Lou rolling over in his grave to return them for you, please donate in his name to St Jude’s Hospital for Children or your nearest animal shelter.

Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov.13,2021 at 10 AM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. at 11 AM. Interment to follow.
