Lorraine M. Buonocunto

Lorraine Marie Buonocunto, age 92 of White Plains, New York passed away December 2, 2023.
Lorraine was born on March 23, 1931 in Manhattan, New York to Rev. Alberto and Maria Mangiacapra and grew up in Manhattan and the Bronx.
Lorraine attended New York University and graduated in 1962 with an associate degree of X-Ray Theory Practice and Technique and after graduating worked at New York University teaching dental radiology.
Lorraine married Nicola Buonocunto on June 5, 1965 and moved to White Plains, NY where they raised two daughters, Laura and Nicole. After retiring from New York University in 1979, Lorraine became involved with the organization SHORE and a year later established the Ecumenical Emergency Food Pantry of White Plains, where she held the position of Executive Director for the past 44 years. Lorraine worked with various government agencies and local houses of worship to promote the expansion of the Ecumenical Emergency Food Pantry of White Plains to help local residents.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Nicola, her children Laura and Nicole, son in-law Louis and grandchildren Victoria, Alexandra, Brianna and Louis Jr. Lorraine is predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Dominick, Edward, Alexander, Joseph, Julia and Edith.
Lorraine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a devoted Christian, a member of The Church in the Highlands for over 50 years and was passionate about fighting hunger, homelessness and helping people in her community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ecumenical Emergency Food Pantry of White Plains or Calvary Hospital.
