Lora M. Walz

Lora (Hannelore) Margaret Walz of Hawthorne, NY passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family on February 22, 2021, at the age of 94.  Lora was born on April 6, 1926 in Leipzig, Germany to Anna and Clemens Kasprowicz.  Lora was married to her devoted husband, Charles Walz, for 41 years, who passed away in 1988 at the age of 68.  Lora worked for the Office of the Westchester County District Attorney where she retired at the age of 66.  She was a proud member of the Dominican Third Order, Holy Rosary Church, the church choir, and the Rosary Altar Society.  Lora loved traveling, playing piano, watching old movies, hosting card parties, having family dinners, and staying connected to friends and family by telephone, letters, email and Facebook.  Lora most of all, loved her family, friends and neighbors.  Lora is survived by her loving family: her daughter and best friend, Elaine Hardy; and her sons, Charles and his wife, Karen, and Richard and his wife, Barbara.  Her memory is also cherished by her grandchildren:  Elizabeth (and husband, Patrick), Christopher (and wife, Paola), Richard (and wife, Mirella), Robert (and, wife Rachael) and Christopher (and girlfriend, Nelly), as well as two beautiful great grandchildren, Alina Grace and Cassandra Marie. Visiting at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY at 11:30am.  Interment will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021, at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla. In memory of Lora, the family requests consideration of a donation in Lora’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Rosary Hill Home, in Hawthorne, NY or the Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, N.Y. (The Family is requesting Casual Attire Please).
