Linda Mandelbaum Caigan was born in 1933 to Kate Wilananski Mandelbaum and Jacob Joseph Mandelbaum. She was a loving sister to Joan Mandelbaum Buck who died in 1966. She was the beloved wife of Robert Caigan, who died in 1978. She is survived by a large family; daughter Emily and son Peter, son-in -law Khem and daughter- in -law Nancy, her grand-children Tuli Viatrix, Gage Nikkal, Lindsey and Ali, as well as her brother in laws Dr. Herbert I. Cohen, Daniel Cook and sister -in -law Amy S. Cohen. She has many nieces and nephews who have remained close with her throughout her life. Linda attended The Albany Academy for Girls and went on to Cornell University for her undergraduate degree and received her Master's in Social Work from Columbia University. She worked as a social worker at WJCC, Phoenix House in the 1960's and in the '70's co- founded the Hallen School for children with learning disabilities. She then became the Head of Family Life Education for Westchester Jewish Community Services, leading numerous workshops and counseling groups throughout Westchester. Linda loved to serve and help others. She had a passion for the ancient healing art of mental imagery and taught the practice for the last fifteen years of her life as a clinical social worker. She was on the faculty of the American institute for Mental Imagery. Her greatest joy came from being with her family and friends. Linda was an accomplished painter and pianist and brought love and joy to all who surrounded her. She was a bright spirit with a huge heart and will be missed by all. Shiva will be observed on March 14th at the home of Nephew Jay and wife Cathy Buck.
