Lewis Wexler passed away on December 28, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by his wife, Joan Ratner; son, Joshua Wexler; and brother, Paul Wexler; as well as three grandchildren and two step children - Jessica and Jim Leiken. He was born in Bronx, NY, and lived most of his adult life in Westchester County. Lewis graduated from the City College of New York, with a degree in electrical engineering and was employed for many years as a computer programmer. He retired from Nomura Securities in 2011.
A passionate cyclist, Lewis was active in the Westchester Cycle Club and USI (Unione Sportiva Italiana) and participated regularly in the Gimbel's Ride. An exceptionally strong climber, Lew always made it to the top of the hill first. He and his wife enjoyed cycling vacations in Italy, France, Spain and Mexico.
When baking no-knead bread became a popular hobby, Lew decided that he really enjoyed kneading bread dough and became an enthusiastic baker. He was also an avid vegetable gardener. A devoted reader of The New Yorker and The New York Times, Lew enjoyed a good argument.
He was a kind and compassionate soul, a friend to people of all backgrounds. He adored cats, inexplicably giving them all Russian names; Boris and Natasha were favorites.
Lewis Robert Wexler lived a full and rewarding life and will be greatly missed.
In lieu flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley.
