Leonard Spina

Leonard Joseph Spina, 78, of Valhalla, NY, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. He was surrounded by his family.

Len was born on July 6, 1946 in Astoria, Queens the son of Joseph and Theresa Spina.

Len graduated from Queens College then went on to earn a Masters Degree from NYU.

Len married Alfreda Liebmann on July 19, 1980 in Rye, NY. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, teacher and friend.

He was a professor of mechanical engineering at Westchester Community College for over 40 years. He coached the WCC women's softball team during his tenure. Len especially loved baseball, the New York Yankees, New York Jets and skiing. He shared his love of sports with his family and friends. Len loved sharing a good story and most importantly he truly loved his friends and family.

Remaining to cherish Leonard's memory are, his wife, Alfreda; children, Elizabeth, Katherine and her husband Peter Freed, Philip and his wife Mallory, and Cassandra; grandchildren, Mila, Joseph, Thomas and Julia; his brother, Joseph, and many loving family and friends.

Preceding Len in death are father, Joseph, mother, Theresa and brother Thomas.

Visitation will be held January 24th, 2025 from 4p-8p at Hawthorne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held January 25th, 2025 at 10am at Holy Name of Jesus in Valhalla.
