Lawrence (Larry) A. Haggerty died suddenly on Monday, October 16th at his home in City Island.
Larry was born on June 13,1972 in White Plains, where he spent his childhood years. At the age of 20, he joined the US Marine Corp where he met lifelong friends or brothers as he referred to them. Larry was extremely bright and successfully pursued a career in social work - holding two Masters Degrees in his field. Most recently Larry was managing a mental health program in the Bronx. Larry was also an adjunct Professor at the College of New Rochelle, Co-op City Campus. He was an avid fisherman and loved to fish off the piers of City Island. Larry loved his family, his quick wit and sense of humor were infectious. He always told each of us how much he loved us and we loved him right back. Losing someone so special is and will be a struggle for the Haggerty family.
Larry is survived by his mother, Catherine Haggerty, his brother, David Haggerty, his sister Amanda MacConnell and her husband Brian MacConnell and their two children, Kayla and Aidan, his Aunt Carol Haggerty, his daughter Ashley Wilk, his Uncles & Aunts Richard & Karen Haggerty and Daniel & Diana Haggerty and his long-time partner, Kathy Spruill and her son Erich along with numerous cousins and a multitude of friends.
Services will be held on Friday, October 20th at Ballard & Durand, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.
