Larry Meegan was a kindhearted man that is loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Our "Papa" as he liked to be called by his grandchildren, was a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Larry's story started on July 8, 1933, in County Louth, Ireland, the youngest child of Mary and Peter Meegan. He married the love his life, MaryAnn, on May 18, 1963, and they lived life to the fullest for 57 wonderful years. They were often called the "King and Queen of White Plains, New York." Growing up we remember our fishing trips, vacations in Cape Cod, golf outings, card playing, family gatherings and trips to Ireland. His arms were always open to our Irish family. A second father to them all.
Larry came from Ireland when he was 27 years of age and went on to work for the County of Westchester and then as an HVAC Tech for IBM. He was an avid golfer, having a straighter drive than most. Had his first hole in one at the age of 87 at The Links at Union Vale, which he was very proud of. He enjoyed going to Florida each winter to see their friends and of course play more golf. He will always be remembered for his caring and giving nature. Taking care of the "old" people as he put it. Larry has touched all of us in one way or another. He taught us the value of hard work, the importance of integrity and the power of kindness.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Larry are his parents, his loving wife, Mary Ann and his brother and sisters, Annie, Jimmy, Joe, Michael, Minnie, Petey, Rose and Tommy. Loved ones that will carry Larry's memory until they meet again are his son and daughter-in-law Larry and Jennifer Meegan; his daughter MaryKate Meegan; his grandchildren Joanne Hulsey, Anthony Purchia, Sean Meegan, Ryan Meegan and his great granddaughters, Adelynn and Elea Hulsey.
And so, the story goes on until we see our Papa again. We love you and miss you always. Forever in our hearts.
