Kenneth P. Jass 53, of Kodiak, Alaska and formerly of Tarrytown and Pleasantville, N.Y. passed away on June 30,2021. Kenneth was born to Andrew E. and Eleanor B. Jass of Tarrytown, NY on January 11,1968. Kenneth graduated from Pleasantville High School, studied psychology at SUNY Albany and received his Bachelors of Nursing from the University of Virginia. He had served in the Army Reserves, achieving the rank of Captain. His time in the reserves included a year of active duty as a nurse. At the time of his death, Kenneth was working as a public health nurse for the State of Alaska in Kodiak.
Kenneth is survived by his mother, Eleanor, his siblings Andrew P. (Lynn) Jass of Wappingers Falls, NY, Mary Carol Korkes of Cary, NC, his nieces Kaitlyn (George) Melo and their daughters Eleanor and Annabelle, Learan Jass, Sarah Korkes, Kayla Korkes, his Aunt Mary Lou Breyley, his Aunt Alice Binns and his cousin Linda (Michael) Stella and their daughter Sophia, as well as many friends across the county.
Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, especially with friends, and above all else, helping others. Kenneth had an uncanny ability to bring humor into a situation, always shared the best stories and truly loved his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Ave. Hawthorne NY on Saturday August 21, 2021 with visitation beginning at 12:00PM and services starting at 1:00PM. Burial will immediately follow the service at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kodiak Women’s Resource and Crisis Center (kwrcc.org) in Kenneth’s name.
