Kathleen Volpe

Kathleen Volpe passed away on January 12th 2017 at her home in Newfield, NY (formerly of Hawthorne, NY) surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Kathy was born on May 6, 1963 in Mt Vernon Hospital, and was raised in Hawthorne, NY where she attended school and graduated from Westlake High School Class of ‘81 in Thornwood, NY. At the time of her death she was employed by Jim Ray Homes in Newfield, NY.

Kathy was an avid horse and animal lover all of her life. As a child growing up she spent most of her time at the local horse barns caring for horses mostly to pay for her horse. Kathy had a way of collecting animals and after moving to Newfield acquired a few including two potbelly pigs. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. She will always be remembered for her laughter, wonderful spirit, and quick wit. Her presence brought joy to those who came in contact with her. Her most precious possession was her daughter, Emilie, who was the light of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Emilie Volpe, her father and mother, Edmund and Lorraine Volpe of Newfield. Her brother Edmund (Terri Sheehy) of Rye, Robert (Suzanne Becht) of North Salem, James (Bobbie Leggio) of Sleep Hollow. Also survived by nieces and nephews Gianna, Jamie, Jake, Taylor, Riley, Aidan and Ronan Volpe.

Memorial services will be held on Friday March 10th, 2017 at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:45 followed by Celebration of Life Mass at Holy Rosary Church at 12:00.

Internment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
