Karlheinz Dierssen born December 10, 1941 to Alma and Karl Dierssen in the Bronx NY. They relocated to Hawthorne in the mid-fifties where he attended Hawthorne Elementary School and graduated from Pleasantville High School. He served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 after which he enlisted in the New York State National Guard where he served proudly for an additional 25 years. In 1968 he married his wife Charlotte (nee Firth) and together they had three sons. After he was released from active duty he worked in a machine shop with his father. He then moved on to become a draftsman with the Union Carbide Corporation designing scarfing machines for the steel industry. He passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side. Karlheinz is survived by his wife of 56 years Charlotte, his three sons and their wives Eric (Gracie), Alan (Marie), Donald (Miriam) and his four grandchildren Kevin, Ryan, Daniel and David. Karlheinz will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Also for his quick wit, sense of humor, love of polka music, kindness, and positive outlook toward life. Visiting hours at Hawthorne Funeral Home will be Tuesday July 23, 2024 from 9 am until 11 am. Graveside services to follow at Kensico Cemetery at 11:30.
