June Sweeney

June M. Sweeney (née Gouaux), 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 30th of September 2016 after a courageous six year battle with cancer. She will be remembered as an incredible wife to Dan, mother to Juliet and Suzanne, grandmother to Christine and friend to many. Her passing will leave a hole in the hearts of her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in all of those whose lives she impacted with her kindness and generosity. She was born in Yonkers, New York, on the 26th of June 1942 to René and Ludmila, the second of three daughters, she is survived by her sisters Carole and Helene. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Rochester and her Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance from Fordham University. She worked as a research scientist, teacher and commercial mortgage underwriter for both the Federal and New York State governments. She loved to paint and to cook, and will be remembered especially for her oil paintings and her famous parties. Arrangements are being handled by Ballard-Durand Funeral Home at 2 Maple Avenue in White Plains, with visitations on Wednesday, October 5th, from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm. The Funeral will be at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 6th, at 1pm, located at 6 Greenacres Avenue in Scarsdale; graveside ceremony to follow at 2:30pm at Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue in Valhalla.
