Judith (Risher) Christ

Judith Angela Risher Christ passed away on Feb 20, 2023 She was born in White Plains, NY on August 4, 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Valhalla, NY. Judy was the wife of Peter, who predeceased her in 2017, mother of Nancy Elisabeth (Gary) Purpura of North Stamford, Connecticut, and James Thomas Christ who predeceased her in 2016 of Harrison, New York. She is also survived by two grandsons, Taylor Joseph and Grant Thomas Purpura and brother, Donald F. Risher of White Plains. She was the daughter of Angela Mary McManus and Donald Rouen Risher of Valhalla, NY, who predeceased her. She graduated from Briarcliff High School, Westchester Community College & SUNY with a B.S. in Human Development. She served many years as a member on Committee for Special Education, founded support groups, the Special Ed PTA and PRAISE Scholarship in the Valhalla School District. She worked for B. Altman & Co., General Foods Research Center, and in the family business, Kensico Sports, Inc. Most recently she was employed by Westchester Community College in the Women's Forum. She interned at the Women's News and was a freelance writer, a member of Knollwood Country Club and past treasurer of the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla. She enjoyed reading, writing, history, and Bermuda in June. Reposing at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM during which a funeral service will be held. Burial will be in the Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers donations to the Dementia Society of America would be greatly appreciated.
