On May 9, 1944, Juanita was the second daughter born in New Rochelle, NY to Otis and Mary Ruff. Her parents and siblings: Elizabeth, Odessa, and Linda predeceased her.
Juanita Maddox was truly loved and passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2023, at the age of 79. Juanita resided in Elmsford and Mount Vernon, NY, for decades. Her selflessness and dedication will always be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
She was known for her unwavering love, support, and nurturing spirit. Juanita took great pride in being a homemaker, working for the Postal Service, and at the bank.
Juanita was a devoted mother, a very caring person, and she loved her children and grands. She is predeceased by her ex-husband, Daniel "Sonny" Maddox, daughters, Lisa and Dena Maddox, and son Michael Maddox. She leaves behind her daughters, Lois Kim Lane (Mitchell), Leonora Maddox, 4 grandchildren: Deran Maddox, Martha Tianna Lane, Arnold Mitchell Lane, Jr. and Rhonda Maddox, 12 great-grands, and 4 great-great-grands.
A visitation ceremony to pay respects and celebrate Juanita's life will be held on December 23, 2023, starting at 9:00 am at the Ballard-Durand Funeral & Cremation Services. This will be followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am, where we will honor her memory and remember the joy she brought into our lives. The burial will take place at White Plains Rural Cemetery at 11:30 am on the same day.
Though she may be gone from our sight, Juanita will forever remain in our hearts and will be remembered as a beacon of love and strength. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
