Joyce Ann Lewkowski

Joy Lewkowski, 77, of Briarcliff Manor, NY passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was a cherished mother, wife, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

Joy was born on July 5th, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH. Although she grew up in Cincinnati (Hughes High School Class of 1965), she spent her adult life in many locations, including Libertyville, IL, California, Maryland, and Virginia. She attended the University of Cincinnati, obtained a master's degree in psychology and worked as a social worker and then as a child psychologist before earning her MBA and CPA and becoming an accountant, a career she pursued until her retirement. 

Joy was known for her warmth, wit and wonderful sense of humor. She made friends easily and would do anything for them. She loved to tell the story of how she and her husband, Jim, met while taking out the garbage at the apartment building where they both lived in Cincinnati. Joy and Jim were happily married on November 13th, 1971, and recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Joy visited Jim many times a day in Memory Care at the facility where they lived and routinely brought ice cream for the staff. 

Joy had an enduring love for dogs and was actively involved in many charities, including volunteering at a local hospital in Virginia, where she made it a point to donate blood as often as she was allowed. She is survived by her husband, Jim Lewkowski, children Jennifer Lewkowski (Jon Yanovsky) and Ryan Lewkowski, and grandson Byron Yanovsky. She is predeceased by her parents George Beckman and Virginia Beckman. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), an organization that was close to Joy's heart. As an alternative to monetary donations, please consider a blood donation.
