Joseph “Joe” Anthony Gautieri passed away at Broward Health North Hospital on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in Pompano Beach, FL due to complications of two strokes and a year long battle of Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma. He was 66 years old. Joe was born on July 6, 1954 in Mount Vernon, NY to his parents, Joseph and Mary Gautieri. He was the youngest of three. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Grammar School and then graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. He married the love of his life, Valerie, in New York. They then relocated to South Florida. He graduated from the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Police Academy and starting working as a deputy on May 6, 1985. He served his community for 29 years and retired with BSO in 2014. Then he dedicated his remaining time in working security with Allied Barton at JM Lexus.

Joe had a passion for always helping people. He enjoyed hunting, reading political books, watching movies, and eating Italian food in his free time.

Joe is survived by his wife Valerie; his two daughters, Gina and Nicole; his brother, Michael and his wife Hanne; his sister, Maryann; his niece, Michelle and her husband Russ; his nephew, Michael; his father-in-law, Ronald; and his sister-in-law, Jeannette.

Joe will be buried in a private ceremony in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York on October 28, 2020. A memorial will take place on October 25th at 3:00 p.m. at Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe's life.
