Joseph DiLorenzo

Joseph DiLorenzo (Retired FDNY) 95, most recently of Newtown, CT. and formerly of Staten Island, New Port Richey, FL and Scarsdale, N.Y. died on August 23,2017. He was born on Feb.24,1922 to the late Santo and Frances (nee Guerrera) DiLorenzo in Brooklyn, N.Y. He proudly served in the US Army in WWII and Korea. Joseph served also with FDNY for 27 years retiring in 1976. He was predeceased by his devoted wife Mary (nee Lazzaro) DiLorenzo in 1993 and his deceased daughter, Francine DeMauro. Joseph is survived by his loving children, Stephen J. (Helinda) DiLorenzo of Danbury, CT and formerly of Scarsdale, N.Y. and Teresa (Lawrence) Cantwell of Rockville Ctr, N.Y. one sister, Mary Matejka of Great Neck, N.Y. also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, AJ, Jared, Damon, Tara, Lauren and Sean and 8 great grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, (today) 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Saturday, 10 AM.  Entombment to follow.
