Joseph R. Breese, Sr. 80, of Mount Vernon, N.Y. passed away on July 18, 2011. He was born on November 11, 1930 in Port Chester, N.Y. to the late Charles and Mary Agnes Breese. He is survived by his wife, Lorene. Beloved father of Joseph Robert, Gail Parlin, Joseph Charles, Christopher, and Frank, Steven, Kenneth Formicola and Kathleen Jack. Proud grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Joe served in the US Air Force during the Korean War where he earned The Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and 2 Bronze Stars. Among his many activities, he served as Commander and Chief of The Catholic War Vets in Port Chester and was extremely active in the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight of Wm A. Dunphy Council # 450 in White Plains, N.Y. and Grand Knight of Mount Vernon Council # 410. His many contributions to the Knights of Columbus earned him numerous citations and commendations. Joe also was a member of the Elks Lodge # 707 of Mt.Vernon and Yonkers. He was the owner of Breese's Wedding Center, a photography studio, located on Gramatan Ave. in Mount Vernon for many years. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, on Thursday and Friday 5-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Sacred Heart Church, Mount Vernon, N.Y. on Saturday 10 AM. Entombment, Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, N.Y.
